Romanian Goddess

$50.00

The goddess series was painted throughout 2025-2026, inspired by artifacts of ancient matriarchal cultures, researched and referenced by archaeologist and anthropologist Marija Gimbutas and her contemporaries. I was reading the book The Great Cosmic Mother, which referenced Gimbutas often, and happened to find a textbook written by Gimbutas at a thrift store. I loved studying and painting these ancient objects. Originally small, portable, and personal, these power objects are enduring reminders of the earth’s matriarchal roots.

Ancient goddess object - Romania c. 49th - 48th century B.C.

8.5 × 11”; acrylic on navy blue paper. Ships flat.
